We encourage our children to go and play outside in public parks and in schools where we believe they are safe. Well, not so as Blue Mountains Council and various Schools spray a toxic chemical called glyphosate in areas where children play and where it can come into direct contact with their skin and enter their bodies. It appears that they use it because they are not aware of the dangers and because it is cheap even though there are safer alternatives available.
There is an explosion in conditions affecting children ( and adults) like Autism, Diabetes, Leaky Gut Syndrome, Depression, Cancers, Behavioral issues such as ADD, ADHD Bipolar are on the rise (not to mention the result of increasing prescription medications). That is fact. No one can prove conclusively what is causing them but clearly something is and the increasing toxins and impurities in their environments are a highly likely cause from increased electromagnetic radiation to increased toxins in the food supply. We need to thus apply common sense and where possible, limit our children’s exposure to those things which are likely or highly likely to be adversely affecting them not only now, but in the future. Glyphosate is clearly a toxic chemical highly and based on court verdicts overseas, cancerous, especially if it is sprayed in areas where our children can come in contact with it on their skin and have it enter their bodies.
In 2015 the World Health Organization classified Glyphosate as ‘a possible human carcinogen”
Recently Bayer/Monsanto agreed to settle 10 billion dollars in lawsuits, after claims totaling over 2 billion dollars were awarded by United States Courts to those harmed by glyphosate. Claims are starting up in Australia and it is better for Councils/Schools to do the right thing and stop using it to avoid possible future litigation and also to protect the community and unnecessary harm to children.
We call on Schools and the Blue Mountains Council to immediately stop using the cheap option that completely disregards the health and safety of our children, especially as other options are readily available. Else, you are highly likely causing harm to those in the Community that you are meant to protect.
We are currently contacting schools to help create awareness about dangers and hope to work with schools and Council for the good of all. We will eventually compile information to help parents know which schools are being diligent in their duty of care for children and stopping or phasing out glyphosate and to warn against schools which are not.
